I fear for future generations who are introduced to music via low fi mobile devices.

I have a huge collection of jazz mags, thinking of recycling them.

yes not many that listen to music via lo fi media actually listen to anything decent

that said, my phone goes with me everywhere i.e music
but always headphones and i thus realise that the quality is crap, but its ones ability to realis ethis and find an alternative 8)
i just listen to the good stuff at home for the real sounds
but i do pick up the occasional sound on my earphones that i missed othwerwise 8)
maybe peoples ears are just different
although in theory we hear the same thing, maybe our brains dont percieve it that way
otherwise evryone would like all genres?

It didn't seem to do prior generations with their warped, scratched records, crackly compressed mono recordings and crappy little transistor radios all that much harm.

Been a fan of these for a while - they're great live, where they're capable of creating teriffic tension, as well as their sparse subtlety.

If you're interested in discovering similar artists, head over to the Retrobike group at Last fm. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=75727 -If you type in say Aaron Parks and then select Aaron Parks Radio you'll get to hear loads of great jazz pianists.
.. If you prefer the more intense side of EST, please check out Basquiat Strings -my fave' band of the mo', they're fab and quite unique. Also try Portico Quartet. 8)
