I've got a rear mounted carrier but I can easily fit my bikes in the car with the seats dropped (a Picasso). There are/were internal bike racks made. You take out one of the seats, the rack clicks in where the seat was and you lock the bike in with a qr dropout. Don't know if they do a 20mm version though :?

Yeah, the bits you lean back on weigh an absolute ton. Not sure why and can only assume there's a huge bit of metal in them to keep it rigid when the only securing point at the top is at one edge.

Still, more room for the bike, fishing gear & the golf clubs.

Holy crap!!... I've stripped a few cars out (so much fun getting a 1.4spi Astra to wheelspin as you change into 3rd and hit nearly 100mph ) and don't think I've encountered such a weighty back seat.. ever!!...

Around here, most of the car parks have bars across the entrance at 2m high, to stop camper vans etc... Some drivers remember they have a bike up top; some don't. :cry:

Now that would just have me laughing and laughing and laughing. . . unless it were me, of course.. in which case I'd probably trundle a 2 tonne truck over a pile of increasingly twisted metal a few times in a flat-out rage

I don't have a very good memory, quite often not remembering how I got home... a roof rack one would be a REALLY bad idea

I forgot, but only once. Horrible noise and then realisation dawns.
