Do I need ceramic-specific brake pads?

I'm a first-time user of ceramic rims and I wanted to know if I really need ceramic-specific brake pads, or if regular pads will work fine. I'm having trouble finding threaded ceramic canti pads, so I'm hopeful I don't really need them. Thanks.

You'll notice the biggest difference in the wet.

Standard pads on ceramic rims are not good at all. Either don't bother braking, or avoid declines.

I just got the right pads for ceramic rims recently for the first time and really think they're good.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I should keep looking for ceramic pads. Any idea where I can find some in the threaded canti variety?

Are these they? Not cheap, but well worth the dosh.

Looks like the "Blue Sky" version is for the ceramic rims, but I don't see them listed as available for purchase. Normally the green pads are for ceramic rims, but these "Green HP" pads are for aluminum rims.

Try it with normal pads first, I've been doing this for over a decade and found it works better, dry or wet.

Ceramic pads for ceramic rims.Use anything else and they cause problems then you've only yourself to blame

Right tool for the right job :?

Try XTR holders.
