Actually splitting it may not be such a bad idea. There might be a market for all the parts, chassis included.
 
I hear a lot of what were 'advisories' are now going to be fails. They really want us all driving around in monotonous modern boxes.

Speaking of which, our S Max is in for its second MOT and a major service right now, I am just waiting to see what they cook up. Hopefully nothing drastic, because it is already sold pending collection, and I agreed to get the service and MOT done.

One of our Pajeros failed on a leaking steering box. I had one question to the chap. If it is leaking, how come I have not needed to top it up in over five thousand miles? Oh, and when I did top it up it was because I had fitted a recon unit. I may have spilled a little, could that possibly be what you have seen?

The Subaru I am driving has an advisory on the MOT for an oil leak too. They do tend to seep a little, but the oil in it is clean and it is barely using any over thousands of vigorous miles, not a spot on the garage floor either. 'Cause I park it outside, innit!
 
And today on a stretch of the A14 with no decent hard shoulder, the EGR valve goes taking the DPF with it.

One dead Doblo on the back on an AA truck...
 
Being a mot tester, I have removed my dpf and removed the inside and a local mate reprogramme the Ecu to say it's been removed, no light, no dpf, and a slightly quicker car

Easy pease, the mot test is very easy to get around
