Dia Comp levers, canties, compatability?

I have dragged my old GT Zaskar out of storage and am sorting through old parts to get it back on the road on a very tight budget.

I have a pair of Dia Compe levers but wondered if they work properly with other brands of brakes. I have one forged Canti brake which looks Shimanoish and another unbranded CNCed out of solid.

Would the DC levers work or are they only good for DC brakes?

Your Dia Compe levers will work with any brand of cantilever brake.

They should work fine. There are only 2 types of brake lever, those for cantilever and caliper brakes, and those for V-brakes.
Try them and see!

Any Dia-Compe PC3, 5,7,7E,9,11 (Power and Control) should work with all canti's.

Dia-Compe DP whatever they are followed by are Direct Pull and for V-Brakes.

Thanks, thats what I thought but a self styled expert raised doubts re cable pull. I think he was confused with V's. I will ask here in future.

I do have the option of using some fluorescent pink Maguras but I think I will go with the canties. Love Maguras but pink is just not my colour!

Dia compe SS_ type levers will be fine with cantis too.
