(9speed shifter. 9sped cassette)

I've just fitted a Deore T610 10sp rear mech to my commuter, it directly replaces an M737 (I think) rear mech.
Worked fine, but just getting worn out.

It doesn't shift the full 9speed cassette , shifter is 9sp SRAM Attack shifter, Shimano spacing.

Top and bottom are fine, but half shifts in the middle two.
I think it does 1-2-3-3.5-4-4.5-5-6-7 (no 8 or 9), something like that.

Limits are correct, cabling fine, on the groove etc.

Do these have a different 'swing' to the mountain versions?

Shimano mtb 10spd is different to the mtb/road 9spd and road 10spd

you can mix shimano road and mtb rear mechs from 1987 to the final road year for 10 speed or final mtb 9 speed year

This is Trekking, where does it sit?
Does it follow the MTB (I guess it does).
Does a clamp it 'other side of bolt' fix it, bodge it enough.

I guess I'll find out.

LGF is correct. The pull ratio on 10 speed Shimano varies as it goes through the block, apparently to give a consistent feel as it shifts onto bigger sprockets. Never noticed it myself.

I only got the mechs for the jockies I think they where the same price.at the time, about 7quid from CRC.
So not a loss, actually didn't realise they where ten speed until I had problems, then though it was because of pull. They shift so nicely over the gears that actually work.
So hence asking before I faff around.
Guess I'll need to pick up end of line 10 speed and some Txxx shifter when they try sell them off.

Shame as I have loads of XT 9speed cassettes.

Off to see what new 9speed mechs are going cheap.
