Decent riding in Melbourne, Australia

G'day fellas! I've been a lurker on here for ages but only signed up recently. After a bout of nostalgia, I've decided I need to get back to an old love namely cycling. I have lived in Melbourne for nearly 10 years now and although i love the place it doesn't seem to have the kind of backwoods so prevalent like back home in Cheshire where I grew up. So over to you Melbourne members, where do you go for a bit of off road bashing in the burbs?

Melbourne is flat and boring, move to Tassie its much nicer ;)

In all seriousness, if you contact Aaron on here (he is another Melbourne based member) that may be the best start.

Alternatively check out the Rotorburn website and ask the question there.

The problem with Melbourne is urban sprawl. You need to get a fair way out before things get interesting.

There's some cheeky riding to be had around the Dandenongs, if you're out east.

Otherwise, plenty of great weekenders within a few hours train or drive - Wilson's Prom, Mt Buffalo, the Alps, fire roads in the Grampians, even some nice dirt road riding out of Healesville and into the Cathedral range.

Thanks lads! I did think of Olinda and the Dandys first off. Ohh to have Delamere in my back yard lol. Can't wait to get back on a bike it's been too long out of the San Marco rolls! I'll check out those links later.
