I spotted this on ebay earlier in the year (I think it was this year)

It rides so much better than it should, I mean its got loads of steel including the rims! But its great. I love it.

Raced it last Friday night...

Re:

Good to see a bit of love for Dawes. That slope on the seat tube stands out - edging, just a little, toward the recumbent. What's that like to ride?

Its very long and stable, climbs very well. Quite a solid feel for 501 tube set but that is probably down to chrome rims and bars.
Its an enjoyable thing to ride, its heavy but feels like it could be ridden a few times around the world without giving any problems.

Some updates for this one.
I did like the invincible feeling of the wheels, however in the interests of lightweight, quick release, cassette and tubeless-ness I changed to some Bontrager Racelights. They are rather conveniently the perfect red and yellow colour match.
I think I much prefer the black tyres on this too.
I didn't really get on with the Charge saddle so one of my flights has been put into service now.

It is still a heavy old thing, but it rides so nice.
Only thing left to do now is upgrade the canti's from black LX to M900 but il wait for the blocks to wear right out first.
