D.G. PATTEN 53C FRAME AND FORK, CAN YOU HELP??

Bananasplit

Devout Dirtbag
I picked this frame up last night after a quick late bid on evilbay, the frame looks to have been respayed and stickered up with some D.G. Pattern of Skegness stickers. The frame is super light, lighter than the 531 relaigh frame i'am having restored at the moment, it has the Reynolds 531c decal on the down tube and has Columbus drop outs. If any body can shed some light over the original frame builder that would be great, as i'd love to know more about the history of the frame.
Thanks for reading

Never heard of Patten frames, suggesting they were a small boutique shop that re-branded frames made by other 'big' frame builders such as Ribble, Orbit, Holdsworth etc (not uncommon for that to happen).

It does appear 1990's. Reynolds stopped production of 531 sometime in the late 1990's and now only produce via special order. Is rear spacing 130mm?

Hi there, yes the spacing on the rear does appear to be 130, it accepts Shimano R501 rear wheel no probs. I think it'll get kitted out with some RX100/105 bits and then maybe a full rebuild after the TI Rep has been completed.

Well i've decided its a keeper, and whilst the TI REP is on the back burner (waiting for funds lol) the DG Pattern frame has been de-stickerd and had several coats of t-cut applied, and i must admit its come up pretty well. She's not perfect and has been marked on the rear n/s chainstay, but i think that adds to the charm of the frame. I've got a full Tiagra groupset to fit, just require a wheelset in silver to suit.
