Cytec - would it get me a decent job/ income

I'd have thought things may have got a little better on the wage front since i left the trade....apparently not!!!

I was level 3 Cytech when i was in the bike shops and certainly got more than that, that said the cost of living etc is higher in Jersey.

It's very hard to get rich working in a bike shop but it is bloody good fun...i enjoyed my 12 years there and it paid for my hobby but that was enough, bigger and better things called and i haven't looked back since.

My advice, do what you want to do and enjoy doing it.

Friend of mine did this course, £99 only and said very good.

Bloody hell. I was well over double that plus pension with the same job title and 2 hours less a week.

Can see why CRC can keep their prices so low!

I work in a bike shop (predominantly as a mechanic), get £8.50 hr plus can sell 2nd hand bikes as well (only 1 at a time though), so if I get the right bikes/don't pay much for them :twisted: , can almost double my wages :shock: :twisted:

That's a decent wage for a spanner monkey, more like managers wages that is (well round these parts)

I get £6/hour, 42.5 hr week (only work 40hrs, the 2.5 hrs is for the lunch breaks we don't have) plus a £50 dividend at the month end

Can't sell anything through the shop, but I do get good discount of most stuff.

any qualification is worth it ,maybe not right away but its good to know youve achieved something.it also looks good on a cv and wins kudos points in bike banter :twisted:

experience counts for more than certificates in the grease monkey stakes at times. my mates a manager at a well known shop,he knows Fk all but can talk a good interview and says whatb is needed. he rang me loads when h first started :evil:
