Do Cyclocross type canti's function ok on mtb's or are they a no no?

Arent they made only for use on the roadbikebrakelever?
Do not know for sure but there is a difference between f.e. v-brake and canti levers. A while back I mounted for a customer roadracebrakes on e roadracer with mountainbike breaklevers and it braked very very hard, I think it's no good braking in the forest at a nice downhilltrack.

cantis brakes will work with road levers and cantis levers off course .

They're better than shimano style mtb cantilevers as you have more leverage and thus more power but as Kaiser says there are heel clearance issues especially on smaller frames. Shimano style rear with a brake booster such as a tektro leverage enhancer can work without the heel issues !
