Not been on holiday but while on a business trip I cycled around Budapest on a morning off - definitely worth a visit and very bike friendly.

I used to visit Krakow for a week or so every month with work. I used to keep a bike (my Bontrager OR) in a secure area of the hotel I always stayed in and used it to commute out to the factory during the summer.

The rules of the road were similar to the rest of europe, but the drivers' attitude more akin to that experienced in the UK rather than France or Italy. Being able to swear in Polish helped a little, as did being prepared to ride assertively.

Towards the end of my time visiting, there were more bike paths opening up, and as the standard of the roads improved, so did the apparent standard of the driving.
