Crown race fitting....

Fitting a new crown race to my 1" Mag21s... what's the best/easiest/safest way to get it all the way down to the crown?

I'm considering a trip to B&Q to get a length of steel tube (or similar) with a bore of marginally greater than 1", sliding it over the steering and walloping it firmly a few times wit th'ammer!

Any advances on that approach?!

Good idea but get polypropylene pipe instead, it works as well and no damage will be caused!

I've just got a bit of wood with a suitably-wide hole drilled through it, bash the wood with a hammer.

use #16 for flat blade screwdriver

1 1/4" plastic waste pipe and a rubber mallet is what I use.
