Could GB learn from the USA?

On one occasion after being accused of not having to pay road tax (sic), I got a very confused look when I asked where I got the refund for the two cars my house has. :D

True but the point Silverclaws makes is VED concerns the vehicle not the road. You would be a chump to pay said tax if you didn't need to but as is described its all in the wording, road tax is the wrong term especially as we all pay road tax through general taxation.

I didn't need to type any of that but I often suffer from verbal diahorea and dreadful pedantry.................sorry

There is no such thing as hypothecated taxation in the UK........it all goes into and out of the same one big pot.
