Cougar 54cm aluminium frameset for sale £125

JRAB

Retro Newbie
See photos below.

Seat-tube 54cm C-C, 58cm C-T (to top of extension)
Top-tube 54cm C-C
Head-tube 15cm between headset races.

Bit too small for me.

Top-tube and seat-tube are bi-ovalised, ovalised vertically at head-tube and horizontally at seat-tube, to give stronger joints. Tubes transition through round in the middle of the tube. The photo of the top-tube shows what I mean.

Great welding and finishing, seat-tube cluster is a work of art. Metallic nail-varnish-red paint looks great too. Up close and personal there are quite a few chips and scratches, and some pretty crude touching-up on the top-tube, but from a couple of feet away it's a really nice looking frame.

Cougar is/was the shop in Liverpool that Terry Dolan used to build frames for (think this one is post-Dolan though). Not sure exactly how old (mid/late 90s I'd say) or what grade of aluminium.

Takes 130mm (current) rear hub, standard-drop brakes, English 68mm bottom bracket, a 1" quill stem, and a 27.2mm seatpost. Has a tab for a braze-on front mech, two sets of bottle bosses and cable-stop bosses on the down tube. Headset fitted is a Campag Record, a bit lumpy but in fair usable condition (not the Shimano 600 shown in the pictures). All threads are good. I have a new 113mm Shimano square-taper BB (UN53 I think) I could add if wanted.

Looking for £125. Let me know if you're interested [email protected]
I'm in Leeds so either collection or I can post in cardboard bike-box at cost (guess ~£15).

Richard.
