cook bros skewer o-ring

hi,

someone experience with replacing the o-ring on the non-opening side of the cook bros skewer?

How to get the old one off?
How to get the new one on?
Where to get a new one?

I could do with some too.. although it hasnt made much difference without it

I bought a new one last week, so I haven't replaced the o-ring so far...

but I think
- for removing the old one you use a knife
- for a new one you go to a wholesale store in rubber seals and that kind of stuff. I am sure there must those kind of stores near cities like A'dam or Utrecht.
- I would use a bit Vaseline when putting the new one in place

erh....
I do mean the rubber o ring that is around the aluminum stop thing (with cook bros racing printed in there) on the other side of the clamping side.
It is approx. 1,5 cm diameter and 4mm thick.

I did not look in any shop till now but before I take it off I have to be sure what size to use and need to see if these are available.
The thing is, these are American made and probably in inch size nowhere to find hear on the main land of europe....

Anyone having a dozen of these in his pocket?
(just need one though ;-) )

Hi,

Take the skewer and the old rubber to a wholesale store in seals, hydrolic etc and show them. Pretty sure they can help you out with a decent alternative

Yes Shimano..they been around a while u know..
they are the same...just sold some Cooks QR so I know..
The 'O' ring just rolls off like a profalatic!
You'll probaly need an imperial 'O' ring

I have yet to have an o-ring that isn't a standard size available at a decnet hardware store or industrial supply house. Sure they are out there, I haven't encountered them yet. So far, I've only had to go to the local hardware store to find them.

It's so much easier to use a stock existing o-ring than have a special run made for a manufacturer. So they just used standard o-rings.
