Continuous Attitude - seemingly permanent flow of Kleins

Is it just me or are there a very regular flow of bitd Attitudes and Adroits for sale on the bay?

I certainly recognise some of them, going back and forth (sometimes seemingly both ways across the pond!).

I've been after an Attitude (team USA pink/white/green) for a long time now - but don't recall seeing any in the UK. Anyone know of any looking for a new home?!!??

From a non-Kleinfan... These were pretty popular BITD. Lots of people threw down big $$ for one, and held onto them because they paid so much. Now that there's a market, they're getting their return (+some more).

craigslist in the US is your friend, you need to be lightning fast & ideally have friends in the US to either collect, or help with shipping. its still the cheapest regular source.

I too have noticed how common Kleins seem to be: you can't move on ebay without someone thrusting one at you, and I even saw a Klein today being used as a window cleaner's transport (yep, he had a ladder and bucket. It was of course purple - the frame, not the bucket.)

As has been mentioned, the commonness is probably due to a glut of wall hangers coming into the market, coupled with an avid reliving of youthful desire in middle age: "I'll have now what I couldn't afford when I was 17."

All this musing led me to pump Klein into the newly-unveiled Retro Bike google search facility.

Klein: 411 hits with a provoking advertising link: "iwantpants.com."

In the interest of fairness, I thought I ought to try a few other leading retro brands:

Specialized: 211 hits; best ad: "Cheap Specialized bikes".

Stumpjumper: 131 hits; best ad: "Argos" :( (With the ominous tag, "1-2 Friends Walk, Staines")

Muddy Fox: the bike many of us surely tried first .... a mere 112 hits, and the most fitting ad was simply, "Muddy Fox?"

Orange: 261 hits and an almost inevitible phone ad about "talk plans."

All of which leaves me thinking that us retro bikers are producing an odd quality crunch where we keep the expensive models as common as muck, and the cheap rarities will become the real prizes.

If anyone spots a 1988 Emmelle Cortina, let me know.
