Coffee Shop Steed

Was trying to sell my steed locally but with no luck so I put some nice new retro looking 25c tires on it and have taken it for a few 40 mile coffee shop rides. It rides really nice and the only problems is the brakes feel a bit wooden and the older Ultegra Brake levers are nowhere as near comfortable as the latest stuff. Could probably do with some fresh cables and brake blocks.

On my pretty flat coffee shop rides the 13-18 - 42/52 gear setup isnt so bad and the drive train is silky smooth with a 10 speed chain (I didnt know this would work but it is really nice). Works perfectly with the retro 13-18 straight through block. I have never managed to equal this setup on any of my other bikes and it is so comfortable. Still need to thin the herd so hoping some rich dentist will make me an offer at Peets :)

My main bike is a 1983 Carlton Professional MkV, which has been updated with 9spd triple campag groupset and ergo levers. Is an absolutely fabulous ride. Built for a retro ride, I liked it so much I sold the previous training bike and made it my first choice. 531 frame, 531 forks, running Fulcrum 7s, and a San Marco Regale saddle with Deda bars and stem. Comfy, fast and just a great ride. The Alloy Ribble got binned, the 631 framed, carbon forked trainer got binned. Both replaced by 1 bike that does everything sublimely. Additionally, now have a bit of space in the shed!
