I don't know if this is worth a thread or not. But, I spotted a Claud Butler 531 tubed (no markings on the forks) road touring type bike at Cash Converters in Leicester for £70. The seat looked as if it had lost its cover, being foam only. It had mud-guards. Looked to be in the sort of condition that you'd expect an old bike to be, could do with some restoration but I didn't see anything major in a quick glance. I might be misremembering, but I think it had a triple front sprocket, meaning 15 or 18 gears maybe.
Apologies if this isn't worth noting and this thread is a waste of everyone's time. I just thought I'd mention it as that shop has had some very competitively priced modern bikes in it. (And some bargain guitars.) So, while I don't know if £70 is good value, it's plausible that it's a good deal that someone might want to know about.
Edit: My memory is pretty damn poor. But, it might be a Claud Butler Regent Tourer. This photo of a 1991 model looks pretty damn similar to my eyes providing I'm remembering correctly. http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r77/ ... 21804c.jpg
From a quick bit o' googling, the £70 price might be in the right ballpark. I.e. not worth buying to flip, but if there's anyone out there looking for one, perhaps worth it.
