That stem has been for sale on this forum since 3rd March. If £30 was a bargain, why wasn't it snapped up here?

I guess it's a tougher (more obsessive) audience on here.
But the basic strategy is still dumb:

See item with reasonable asking price;
Put in a low-ball bid, hoping to save a tiny amount of money;
Wipe out the "BIN" option for everyone else;
Realize that now other people will place bids;
Lose the item anyway, because you're too cheap for the bidding.

But the seller will probably gain more this way, so good luck to her/him.
