Chrome and Powder Coating

I want to send bike to powder coating - I am going to take the old paind down but do I need to scrub off chrome as well? Will it change in owen? I would like to keep it...

I can mask it…does it have to be some kind of special material? Can I use normal masking tape, like the one I use when I paint?

I think they use high temperature silicone wrap, along with high temp silicone bungs for the holes with threads like the bottom bracket...

I wouldn't bother taking off the old paint. They have to blast it anyway to provide a key for the powder coating, so they will strip the paint as they do that.

They do indeed. In fact they would rather you didn't do anything other than present them a clean and stripped frame. I dropped my frame in today and was shown the wide variety of blasting media that can be used. My 6061 aluminium Felt MTB was going to be blasted with a media which had to be the softest sand I've ever felt. Propelled in a mist of water though it's apparently very good at taking off paint and decals without damaging the metal underneath.
