Chopper - Electric - Let's Cheat Properly

Wayne Chopper

Retro Newbie
Ok, it may not be a true BMX, but back in the 70's the Chopper was an ICON, and as kids we used to bash them up dirt tracks and jumps until the frames broke and need re-welding..

I decided to modify the aluminium frames MK3 in my shed into an Electric Chopper, 750Watts, Nexus 8speed hub, 48Vdc battery and upgrades to brakes and other parts.

It's a great ride, 43 odd kilometres per hour (26MPH), it cruises the shores of Port Stephens, Nelson Bay, which is 200KM north of Sydney. The range assisted pedalling is about 50KM at an average speed of 18KPH..

A real retro experience, that the whole family enjoys.

Thanks for watching, Wayne (Electric Engineer).
