Hi !
About 18 months ago, my girlfriend and I bought a house in the lovely little town of Chéreng, near the northern capital city of Lille, France, basically on the Belgian border.
With other members of the local community and along with the town Council, we are setting up a twinning association in order to foster good relations with other countries in Europe and to establish warm personal friendships between the people of our village and our European neighbours, with whom we would like to develop international projects (ranging from sport to cultural events, but also including school projects or mere weekend barbecues!).
We would like to find a partner in the South East of England (Essex, Kent, Sussex) –maybe a town or village with similar profile and/or projects– and above all to exchange with a group of people who are willing to get involved in such a twining project…
Some of our members speak English, others don’t.
So speaking fluent English or French is not the issue, as I have never seen an alleged language barrier that cannot be swiftly broken down thanks to motivation, friendship and a glass of wine / pint of beer…
That’s it, really…
I will provide additional information about Chéreng and the project and help anyone who is interested to get in touch with the appropriate person over here.
If on your side of the pond, you are wondering, with a couple of friends or local community members, what life looks like in Good Ol’ Northern France…
If, just like us, you are thinking about fostering international relations with your European neighbours…
… just drop me a line !
Cheers,
Rémy
