cheap BIN syncros alu cranks

I spotted these a while ago, too, and the etching/decal thing put me off too...

Still cheap, for what they (might be) are?

syncros

This is the "cheaper" aluminum syncros crank set, priced below the steel revolutions.

They actually came in 3 versions: engraved logo near the square, engraved logo near the pedal thread and with the painted logo as now on ebay. The ones with the painted logo are pretty rare (as you can see why: the logo wears off...) and I believe these were a bit cheaper to make. These were probably the latest run of these cranks, maybe ca. 1998?
I heard the ones with the engraved logo near the square had trouble cracking....

I have a set of this with the engraved logo near the pedal thread on my BB Adroit and it works flawlessly.

Prices on ebay normally do around 60-110GBP, depending on condition for the engraved versions, at least, that is what I know.....

Guess the BIN price of 40GBP was not that bad.

Just a pity on the decals on this set. If they had engrave logo I would have hit that BIN button right away!

Oh, thinking of it, there was a 4th version: the 10 year aniversary version with the special 10y decal!

Forty quid and some mug bid on it.

I hope whoever bid on it stubs their toe

So Ben must be thinking that he can snag these for less than £40, and that the amount that he might save in relation to £40 is enough to justify the risk of not winning the auction compared to the certainty of BIN. Hmmmm

When you see how many cranks for sale have the orientation pips in the wrong alignment, what does this tell us:

a. having the rings out of alignment can't make much of a difference to how well it changes gear?
b. the cranks are for sale because they don't change gear very well (with the rings out of alignment)?
