Chas Roberts White Spider

strange spec though, i'm assuming the (awful) v brakes and EZ fire were an "upgrade" but rx100 chainset? ultegra 600 hubs? sachs freewheel? makes me wonder about the width of the rear drop outs? 130 or 135?

i can't get over how many people sell good quality stuff on ebay though and only put on a few basic pictures with no detail. pay the extra quid! it will make you more money!!!!!

very very very tempted one cm bigger than my genesis and i have a load of 90s stuff to put on it-must be a very very deep purple

Wouldn't be surprised if the 600 hubs were original as road hubs were heavily used in the late 80/early 90s in the place of MTB hubs that were often heavier and came with nutted axles or 32/36 holes rather than 28. Sachs freewheels were the only decent freewheel to use.

forgot to say, it's probably 130mm if it's using a screw on

Or get it stretched and cold set. A number of builders in 89/90 used 132.5mm spacing so that you could stretch or compress to fit either, very clever!

Is that not a genesis? Difficult to tell for sure from the pics but it doesn't look like the down tube is ovalised :?

Where white spiders made with different tubing sometimes?

I love that fork though would love that for the spider that I just bought 8) .

Well the Roberts has gone. Looks like the seller must have accepted an offer and relisted it with a £300 BIN.

Anyone on here get it?

Does anyone know if early white spiders had different tubing as i'm still not convinced that this one has the ovalised down tube :? . It does have a small white spider sticker but someone on here was saying recently that their Genesis had a white spider sticker that they stuck as they couldn't afford the genuine article bitd, so could be a similar story here?

The seller sent me the serial number and it begins 89. Does anyone know if Roberts worked their serial numbers like this? Could well make sense, mine starts with a 92 which sounds about right too.
