Did Chas ever put the seat clamp directly over the seat stays of the White Spider model and if he did would you expect to see it with top routed cables?

Re:

My White Spider had the seat clamp at the front and all of the cables were along the top-tube. Wish I had never sold it.

Re:

My 89 White Spider had the seat clamp at the back of the seat tube, again, all the cables were along the top tube.

Things were very fluid regarding mtb design in this period, people like Chas, Dave Yates and others were messing about and changing things from bike to bike.

If you can get a frame number, then phone Roberts and they will be able to confirm whether the frame is a Roberts, and possibly even what model it is (ring them to do this, they read e-mails, but rarely reply to them).

He would do them either way around. My friend and I both bought a custom White Spider in 1989 and picked different ways for the seat clamp. The idea was that facing forwards didn't collect the mud form the back wheel - but would let rain run down the front of the seat post... still got my White Spider and still being used most days (but no longer raced!).
