Change of bottom bracket advice please

I currently have the square taper sealed cartridge BB and want some funky cranks for my restomod build. Most of them only seem to come in the new style through axle things (don't know the correct name). I have no issue changing but would like some advice as to how easy it is and the best way to go about it. Or is it easier to just stick with a square taper?

Failing all else I can stick with what I have and get them powdercoated...

Yes it can be done. Few videos online.

Try "RJ the bike guy" on u tube

Basically, take out old bottom bracket cups, bearings and axle...
Put in new external cups, put through hollow axle, put on other arm.

You will need a couple of new tools to tighten them and set it and you may have to add spacers to get length correct, but that's normally in the instructions.

One word of minor warning....many say these are quite susceptible to bearing wear if the bottom bracket faces are out of parallel. Although I've never had a bb faced and had no problems.
