On my bike, the chainrings which I am using is 44/32/22 for 9 speed setting, I noticed it doesnt shift very well from the middle ring to the big outer ring, it's the 44t too big from middle 32t? I was wondered if I should use 42t instead of 44t as the chainring will be smaller and easier to shift across?

Any advise what I am doing wrong as I am a little stressed with it.

Cheers Guy

32 shifting to a 44 shouldn't be a problem, I have this combination.

Bad shifting is probably due to either the wrong front mech or it's not set up correctly....they can be a bit fiddly to get spot on.

is your front mech for standard drive or compact drive?

gearing issue

Good morning, thanks for you answer on my question of gearing issue, I think it's a compact front mech, I have attached the link of the front mech I have bought, I also bought gripshifts for it, it doesnt seem to be good as the old ones I used to have where it used to have one click on each gear shift which this one have about 4 clicks to shift a gear, rear gearing is good, it's the front mech which bothered me, I think I should have gone for thumb shifters.

cheers

Usually front shifting works best if the middle ring is slightly larger than halfway between the inner and outer sizes. (So 22-34-44 is a good setup).

That said, with a bit of fiddling of the front index you should be able to get it to work.
