Whats with cats, nothing they do makes sense. My cat 'Pootle the Poozle Cat', I know its a silly name but he ignores me as regards names anyway, likes to be petted and fussed, this makes sense. He miaows until I fuss him then walks away from me until just out of arms reach. He expects me to fuss him always just inches beyond my reach. Why !!!!!!!
How can i pet him if I cant reach him yet he'll not shut up unless I try. Is it some devious way of torturing me as I'm too big to deal with as he would do a mouse

i moved in with my other half last year....two cats came in the package too.....i struggle with the urge to 'see them off' each day....the canal is not far away and i have bin liners and bricks to hand too......

Potato sacks win out over bin liners all day long.....

Honestly, though, other peoples cats are ok... they tend not to bother us.. 4 dogs and 6 ferrets see to that 8)

And I would guess that it's the animals naturally sadistic nature that likes to torture you thus Mr. Velo

Like any other animal, they learn through repetition.

I have feral cats living in the woods near my house. They have learned through repetition that the the guy in the while bungalow (me) has guns, and stay out of his garbage (now).

I hate cruelty to animals.
Can't believe anyone would even contemplate doing something so despicable as throwing cats in a canal.

I agree. Hopefully some of the remarks above were made in jest.
