We've acquired a cast iron Chiminea. It's very rusty though. Rusted bolts and a hinge, one that holds a cooking grill, that's rusted through. Question is what's the best way to remove the rust and prevent more? Also where would be a good pl for spares?

Re:

Maybe a poem will help.

Oh dear,
I have no idea,
About your chimnea,
If its near,
Get it out of here,
And have a beer.

Re:

wire brush the loose rust off, light the chiminea, when it's hot rub it with a block of beeswax. This will smoke loads and bear in mind it may light, it should leave the metal a dull black, this what I was taught blacksmithing to give ''black finishing'' to ferrous metals.

You can have accompanying music while youre cleaning it :D

Any shot/bead or sandblasters near you ?
You can if you have a compressor buy a sand blasting gun for it and its not a huge expense.
It would pay for itself by the time youve blasted everything with even the merest hint of rust on it
