Pretty common for commuter bikes to be given a rattle can coat. Anything to make it less appealing to thieves.

Alas, better than the whole bike going AWOL. I've seen far more prestigious frames with similar camouflage in Cambridge and London.

used to work in oxford and i have seen many a cannondale and pace disguised like that too

Have also seen similar around the London as above. In fact I've seen some bikes totally sprayed, even the saddle :shock:

Personally I'd go for the gaffer tape and old inner tube on the frame look. Makes your bike look like something out of scrapyard challenge but it does the job and at least you can take it off when you're bored of it / living in a pikey free area ..

At least she took the wheels off, can't see whether the "paint job" is on the drivetrain as well but I've seen a few that have been very comprehensively sprayed.

Including one Trek Y-frame full susser with Spinergy wheels, the frame and drivetrain were sprayed pink, the wheel and tyres sprayed silver. That made me really angry, I wanted to clobber the fat chav off it and find out who its rightful owner was. Trouble was, the 13-year-old kid astride it (with the saddle way down) probably had absolutely no idea what it was worth or where it came from...
