Canyon Ultimate SLX

Here's my second Canyon, which I bought last week. It's currently off with the Seatpost man for seatpost removal (I think a previous owner either used normal grease - or no grease with the post...), and, assuming that checks out OK I'll be building it up with period 11 speed Chorus.

Should be a straightforward build as I also have an Ultimate SL of the same era which are near enough identical.

Thought I'd check in here and say the seatpost man delivered outstanding service and removed the seatpost on the day he received it, and shipped it back the following day.

There is no material update since, other than sourcing a replacement canyon seatpost, a canyon saddle and receiving the fitting kit/spacers for the canyon integrated bars I sourced a few weeks back too. Oh, and my lbs removed the rather tired and rusted-in headset bearings and fitted a new set for me.

The donor bike has been stripped and the frame sold to @dandy1 (top buyer BTW!) and waiting on some free time to build up in the spring.

Had a little bit of time earlier so I set out to set the bar height so I could get the excess steerer cut down at my LBS. The saddle height was sorted first, then the canyon fitting kit for the integrated bars and stem came out and I played around with a few spacers and, I think it's at a height I'm happy with...

Not going to ride it then cut the steerer down?
No - have taken some measurements to compare to a couple of my other bikes and it's arguably more comfortable already 😁

I have a medium size Ultimate (basically the same as this) with a slammed stem, so having a larger head tube and a fair amount of stack height is definitely more comfortable not only to look at but to ride as well!

Steerer cut down and 'cockpit' fitting kit aka rubber bung and top cap fitted at my LBS today.

That's all the frame prep done now!

Had a bit of a purple patch over the last couple days.

Crank, chain, mechs, brakes and levers all mounted. Cables on order!

Will run it in on the Mavics then switch to my snazzy new Hunts once everything is set up 😁
