Does anyone know where I can get (or do you have)some of the coiled spring thingies that go between the cantilever brake and the brake boss on the frame?

Tried loads of places all to no avail.

My local Evans said " but why? Everyone has discs now"

Obviously not, numpty.

I need them for Marin Lite brakes which are a little odd because the pins on the springs are opposing and not adjacent to each other.

Any help or guidance much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark.

Re:

Hi Mark.

If the canties you have are the ones im thinking of, ( tubular in design ) i believe they where made for marin by 'tektro'.

Hope this helps..

Ive had similar responses when asking for odd spares at all of these 'franchise' bike shops.., they either have no idea what you are talking about or are very ignorant to their customers..

I always have them tell me i should buy a new bike and get rid of the old rubbish !!! ,
Like yesterday from 'J E JAMES in chesterfield' i only went to buy a helmet, i didnt know insulting the customers was part of the deal
I wont be recommending them ...

Any way, im sure you will get sorted..

Martin..

Evans still sell new Cyclocross bikes fitted with cantilever brakes!
Are these shop assistants so dim as to not notice something like that?!

YES :D

I did point that out to them. Their reply was:

" yes but we don't sell parts for them, we encourage customers towards disc brakes"

I think they just thought this old bloke in his suit is only ever going to spend peanuts, so no effort. I can't blame them really.

Let me have a rummage. I can't promise, but if the springs are similar to those used on onza ho brakes, I might have something, though if memory serves the springs were specific to each side, plus I can't recall if the springs were adjacent or opposite.

Re:

Many thanks Hamster. The pins are in the right place and spot on but it looks like one of the pins points off to the side.

Sadly, no cigar but many thanks for looking these out.

Cheers

Mark.
