What Cantilever brake pads are produced in this here modern world.

I see Koolstop make some (well at least I have seen some and don't think they where V-brake one's)
Now I never liked Koolstop much, never worked well, didn't like the wet and had a tendency to squeel.

The XTR pads worked well, as well as some clear one's with alloy stud, but these studs tended to bend (Winwood rings a bell, I still have them 3 of them, all bent studs) Now these where very good pads from what I remember.

So what do we use now, I do not have the cartridge type M system that eventually came out for M900's. So cannot use replacment pads.

See, I like Kool Stop pads a lot. I put 'em on my KHS and am very happy w/ the results.

I plan to thrown 'em on my other bikes when needed.

I have to agree - work really well. The squealing is usually fundamentally down to movement in the canti, not the pad. Incorrect toe-in is the cause.

I know what causes the squeal (though it's rim dependent), koolstops have their toe in desined into them, or at least they did. Shimano's high end where just so much better all round though and the winwoods leathal in the dry... better than scott & ritcheys.

Does anywhere still do shimano pads or modern equivelent though. Even better sell the cartridge type in full.

I would rather stop and buy new rims, than hit something and buy new titanium body parts...
oh hang one would I be lighter then

Though my Araya RM-395's lasted many years with constant breaking in dry/muddy/gritty.. So just don't buy cheap rims is the answer ;)

EDIT.

I may have to just buy and hope, Club Roost do some (they're just a Kalloy brand iirc)
the old fibrax and madison styles are there (terrible bitd but may have changed now)
Or the lower down shimano models seem to be available.

Also see these for £22 http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Swis ... -15026.htm
Swissstop RAT Green things, they cannot be that good to cost that much. For that price the NHS can pick up the new body parts bill

But I see Post Mount V-brake pads & holders. I assume these should be fine on cantis? ( rims only have one arc shape at 26" )

I've been using Aztec canti pads ever since the original Shimanos wore out. Never had any problems with them, other than the rear squealing a fair bit recently no matter how much toe in I give it. Pad/rim wear rates don't seem too bad.
