I hope this isn't hijacking your thread Stew, and I give a disclaimer that as you already know I am often wrong, but I think that the Explosif is a size 18. And it might even help the sale to clarify it, I hope so anyway.

I think those early Konas had the size measured in a different way - somebody on eBay suggested that a size 18 used to mean 18" from the top of the seat tube to the bb shell, i.e., a seat tube of around 18.7 on the C-T basis.

If it is a size 18, that would be consistent with the head tube being 13cm, which is what it looks like, and the top tube (C-C measured along the tube) being 56cm (whereas a size 19 would be 57.5cm).

In any case, if the top tube C-C is 56cm, then that is the same as a 'modern' size 18, i.e., as measured on the basis used from 1994 onwards. That's the most important measurement after all, and it might be worth checking it in case there are buyers out there just looking for a size 18 Explosif (and how could there not be?)
