A friend of mine called me last night to tell me he had spotted a bike that might be of interest to me, a Cannondale F1000. It may be available for sale, so I did some googling and I like what I saw. The one in question is yellow and has the rubber sleeve on the forks missing, he was sketchy about any more details but the forks clearly stood out because of the missing rubber sleeve!

Is it possible to get hold of the rubber sleeve?

I this bike worth pursuing? I like the one I have seen using Google images and have been told it looks like this:

I thought it might be worth a quick post to see if anyone could shed any light on this model, please forgive me for the sketchy details

You can get the boots, no real problem there. How much are they asking though? You really need to test it, see how the forks feel, those things are a PITA to service, loads of shims and roller bearings....

Good luck.

Hi thanks for the reply, I haven't got a price yet but it is not being sold as 'retro' etc so it should be reasonable. Will have a look at the forks if it all comes together. Thanks for the advice, are these earlier Cannondales nice to ride?

I made an error, I have been browsing through the old Cannondale catalogues, and now know that the paint is not yellow, it's mango!

Too many nice bikes in those old catalogues...

I use to have a F3000 of the same era, very nice to ride, felt tight, great in single track...you won't go far wrong if the price is right.

Just called up, it's sold...

It has given me a new object of desire, I would like one of these so will keep looking. Thanks for your help!
