Can you put a tyre meant for the front, on the rear?

Physically, of course you can..lol

Hi guys,

But, seriously, what would be the effect (if any) in terms of the ride quality?
Would it diminish, or would it make little to no difference?
I have already bought one front tyre (meant for the front) and am struggling to find the rear version.
Here is the tyre...

Have any of you done this before?
I think i have, but i was like 13..lol, so i cant remember, nor would i have noticed.

Cheers

Jake

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Some are very different, Smoke and Darts or WTB Velociraptors for example. Rear is designed to give good drive/traction in a straight line, whilst the front is designed to provide lateral/cornering grip.

The trye in that link doesn't look like it would provide great straight line traction.

The direction of rotation of the tyre in the link is anti-clockwise as it's a front tyre, but if you fitted it back-to-front so that it was on the back wheel exactly as you look at it (with the cassette towards you...) you'd get better drive...

Anyone remember Tioga Farmer Johns when you got them the wrong way and went through sand / gravel?
