Can you fit V-Brakes on a Klein Attitude?

If it has cantilever bosses you can fit V-brakes. You'll need to change your brake levers though unless endos are your thing...

i have a pauls on the back of my rascal - it took a little bit of thinking, but it works perfectly without any clamp on cable stops etc.. i'll take a pic in the morning if you want?

I think when your Attitude is still completely original you shouldnt mount V-brakes. The outher tube on the rear side had got no place to stop against the frame. only thing s to drill the cableguids in the frame bigger and mount a full outher cable on it. But that would be such a shame......

My 1991 Attitude had the holes drilled because the previous owner used magura's. I sold the frame again because it was to small and I didn't think it was nice enough to keep because of......

The 1996 Attitude I bought after that had a Judy SL forks with V-brake only arch. I searched that long for a cati arch and found it....:)

Well, it's up to you> It will work but it's such a waste of beauty.....

Cheers,
Martin

you can mount vbrakes but as has been said, the frame does not have a cable stop for the housing between frame and brakes. easiest solution is to drill the cable outlet hole a bit larger and run the housing from the vbrake through the top tube to the cable inlet which it then uses as stop. there is NO need to drill the cable inlet larger!

if it is worth it for you to "destroy" the frame only for using vbrakes on the rear is something you need to decide. it certainly looses some "market value" if you do it.

you can mount a cable stop to the seat post clamp bolt which would look like this or nicer if you use a custom made adapter

the frame on the photo has been drilled already so the adapter is kinda useless.

the nicest and most advanced solution i have seen so far is this one

i'd say the roller thingy is custom made and could still be optimized a little, the brake arms are a bit too far apart but that's only a detail.

my solution was to run vbrakes on the front and XTR cantis with koolstop pads on the rear with Avid SpeedDial levers. they work well with Vbrakes and cantis. you could also use a Vbrake lever for the front and a canti lever for the rear but they would look different. either with seperate shifter pods/grip shifters or e.g. XT or XTR STIs which are available with canti and vbrake levers.

good and properly adjusted cantis are more than powerful enough on the rear

here's a pic of my little bodge - it costs nothing and works pretty much perfectly tho. i'm sure with a bit of thinking it could be done neater (the andgle of the straddle cable could be improved maybe) and my small frame makes things a little cramped as well! its not super-mega pretty, but neater than some, no drilling of the frame etc, and as this bike gets ridden a lot, v-brakes are a necessity for me. im not sure how this would feel with an xtr parralelgram jobbie as they always seem to feel a bit spongier, but the pauls feels great and very solid.

May look nice, but sooner or later that cable will cut through the canti bridge. (Unless there's a hidden steel guide in the bridge)

to me it looks like there's a liner over the cable up to where it leaves the bridge. in addition to the thicker liner.
