Why I couldn't convert a Klein press fit BB to an External BB via a Press fit bearing housing - Pretty much like a headset cup.

I realise i'm going to get harassed for this (remember it'll be totally reversable), but the bike in question is an old Quantum that'll actually see use so will have many newer parts anyway.

However, can any of the engineering types come up with some legitimate reasons i've overlooked.

To the naysayers: Its gonna be strong enough, you trust you headset to keep your face off the dirt don't you?

sounds fine to me, I run bullseye cranks on a hope hollowtech BB. I'm sure you get press fit /engilsh conversion kits for BMX anyway.

whats the BB width on a Klein press fit? and will it still work with anyt additional width from an external BB?

Klein ID is 34.9 (0.004" crush on a 17x35x10 seems a touch excessive?)
width off the top of my head is wider than normal by a few mill - 76.2 rings a bell, but then all the Ext BB i'm running on 73 shell still use a 3mm spacer.

Either way they're going to be custom cups so I should have some skope to play with.

Now it's just a waiting game for Mr/s postie.................
