campagnolo euclid shifters

Dont know if anyone out there can help me, but i was thinking of purchasing some euclid thumb shifters and i have seen some advertised as six speed. Can you use them as a seven speed, and how do they rate alongside shimano xt 2 thumb shifters?

Thank you,

Andy

They can't be used as 7 speed as the spacing is different. The are designed to work specifically with campa not shimano so if you have 7 speed shimano cogs or mechs then use shimano xt - far superior in use.

Shifters

Xt all the way then hey Pete. Thanks for that. What brake levers then. Avid ultimates maybe to go with the xt thumbies.

The cog spacing is the same between Campag and Shimano, but the cable pulled per click is different. So hubs and cassettes are inter-operable, but the mechs and shifters need to match, unless you run in friction mode.

Absolutely the spacing between 6 and 7 is different (granted the same for Campa and shimano), but it's .5mm out per cog, so don't use 6 with 7 spd cassette, unless in friction which is a real backward step, or unless you're building an 80s bike!

I love the Avid ultimate levers for looks, feel and adjustabilty, but depends if you're going for a US bling look or an all shimano look

unless you use the Sheldon brown technique , to tighten the cable on the other side of mech bolt and it should work .
