Campagnolo derailleur

Can anyone tell me what the small screw on the bottom of a vintage derailleur? I can recognise the upper and lower limit screws but baffled by the extra screw.

....it's the pivot housing stop screw that keeps the jockey wheel cage tensioned correctly

If you remove the screw and allow the cage to rotate so the tension is fully off the spring, then when you unscrew the bolt everything doesn't jump out of your hands.

Was hoping it was something to do with why I can't get my chain onto my largest ring. Every time I adjust enough it ends up rattling against the spokes. Thinking of taking the 5 speed freewheel off and adding a spacer?

Would anyone know if a flip-flop hub would have the same spacing on both sides. Wondering if I've put the hub back on the wrong side?

Are you saying that you have a flip flop wheel and have a block on it, if so then how many speed? Someone who knows will be along in a mo but I've always assumed that those are for two fixed sprockets or one fixed and one freewheel.

I've got a 5 speed freewheel on one side and nothing on the other side at the moment. I was wondering if there was a right or wrong side the freewheel should be on, or will it only go on one side anyway.

As for the derailleur going into the spokes, does anyone think a spacer may help this? It looks like the chain is aligning but just won't jump onto the ring.
