Campag Record Downtube Levers - 9 speed?

I think there were some 9 speed ones, and you can always use some 9 speed barend shifters, they bolt straight on to the DT bosses

If you peel the rubber outers off a set of Campag bar-ends you find a perfectly formed DT lever inside: complete with Campag logo!

They did some 9 speed ones in Record flavour for a year I believe. I have a set that I imported from the US.

This generation of levers then gained a rubber sleeve and a plug and became bar end shifters... whilst being "discontinued" in their original raw format.

I currently have a set of this version in the air (also from the US) for my upcoming PDM Concorde build.

The 9 and 10 speed Record shifters are really rare but you can get Veloce 8 speed shifters and a 9 speed index ring with relative ease. If you want 10 speed it seems only sites in the US stock the necessary index ring... which is where I got mine.

The Veloce levers are nice, but lack the engraved Campag shield logo and aren't quite as shiny as the Record ones. Shifting quality is identical.

Coincidentally, I have a NOS set available...

Re:

I got my 10-speed index rings from Mercian last year or maybe the year before. They might have 9 speed as well.
Still haven't actually used the down tube levers in 10 speed form yet though. Eight speed shifting was fine and they're only the Veloce ones.

Mark.
