ok, so i was thinking of rustwall IRC tyres on this - any opinions

yep, i did that when the rim was a week old, while riding on-road, mistimed a hop onto a kerb at considerable speed. tore the tube to shreds, wheel is still perfectly straight years later

well you did say taste police ! my personal taste would be to remove the blue grips and replace with black ones, and also remove the riser bars and change to a nice set of straight bars ! oh and keep to black sidewalls ! sorry but you did ask !!!!

I would have blackwall tyres on it but smaller size than the ones you have on it, secondly, put black grips on it, then the bike will look great.

IMHO keep with black walls. I can see what your trying to do with IRC and the colour of the frame plus the blues grips blue lettering. I agree with the others flat bars & black grips and you will have nice mtb

I think rustwall tyres might look very nice against the superb orange paint.

You'd be right to stop where you are with blue and keep the silver post and stem, but I don't think there's too much blue as it stands.

I agree with others about riser bars, but if you need your hands at that height then you need either riser bars or a riser stem and a riser stem would look worse.

I don't suppose you have the tyres in your posession? If so, get 'em on and post up a pic so that the doubters have a better idea!

If you haven't got 'em, get 'em - they will look great.

Just one more tip: Carefully remove the rear mech, place in vice, tighten until it 'pops', place in bin, replace with something nicer.

thanks all a mixed bag as usual, which means i still dont know

the risers will stay - it's how i've got used to riding, and i had some flats on a while ago, they didnt work for me.

unfortunately i dont have the rustwalls yet - i dont want to fit them and hate them, cos i'm terrible at getting rid of stuff that's not shot, hence the deore rear mech
