Im starting a rebuild on martinb's old pace the main area of concern and areas id like to get right are the headset and the bottom bracket!

So heaset first do i just get any threaded headset and have the threads machined out? will a 1" ahead fit ( the steerer is a 1" ahead ATM)? can i just put a threaded steerer in my rc 35's and use quill type set up from then on?

Now bottom bracket, are the bearings availible? how do you adjust the bullseye cranks it looks like someone has fitted a star fangled nut inside the axle im assuming this isnt right?if the axle is corroded is it replaceable?

With the headset,if you want to run the stem/steerer combo then you will need to get a 1" headset reamed out to accept it,if you want to fit an ordinary quill stem then just fit an ordinary threaded headset and a threaded steerer to you forks and away you go.

Bottom bracket was the pressed in Bullseye 22mm I.D bearings, justbackdated was able to get replacement aftermarket bearings a while ago,pm him,the sfn inside the axle is to stop the non drive side coming off,its not original but will work, there was someone making titanium adapters for these cranks on here a while back :?
As to adjustment im not sure, havnt got that far yet  The axle isnt replaceable, theyre welded onto the crank, dont know if it is possible to hack the splined bit from a modern HT2 crank and weld it on,long way about things but if the splines are the same will save a few pounds searching for another Bullseye

hope this helps

cheers mate that sounds like what i wanted to hear! ill try and find a bullseye manual. so is there someone who has got the bearings from a bearing supplier?

justbackdated as the only person i found who could get them,i dont know where he gets his from,i emailed several large bearing manufacturers including SKF who made the originals for Pace and nobody does them anymore :(

mine came with some unsealed skf bearings martin reckoned these were all you could get? i could make a foam seal for them and just keep an eye on them? there is a grease nipple so shouldnt be hard!
