I noticed that people rout their cables either one of two ways.
Me I cross them over at the front. So right to left & left to right side of the frame. But other keep the cables on the same side.
Any reason for this? I've always crossed them over. But maybe theirs a better way?

Are talking shifter cables?

I find it depends on the frame and the guides. But I like to cross them too if I can - less rubbing on the frame.

yes gear cables. With a Trimble rear brake as well goes from the left side of the bar to enter the right side of the frame.

I absolutely agree Tony, but I think we're in a small minority in this - most people route the lh shifter to the left and the rh to the right and then try to prevent damage with (often ugly) frame protectors. But it amazes me how many people just allow the cables to destroy their paint, I guess they must think that it's like battle scars that are badges of honour.

I always go to the opposite side and use the natural curvature of the cable outer to curve it away from the frame, and if that means I have to cross the cables as they go along the down tube then that's the lesser of two evils and a few rubber donuts protect the frame well enough.
