Cable routing on Deore XT front derailleur

RetroClock

Retro Newbie
Hi all,

I’ve been giving my Orange Clockwork some TLC to bring it back to a rideable sate for the summer. I’ve replaced all the cables but the front shifting feels really clunky and i’m not sure if the cable is routed through the derailleur properly.

I’m not sure which model derailleur it is (it didn’t come with the bike) but I think it’s a FD-MT736, which i can’t find a dealer’s manual for.

Can anyone advise if the cable looks correct in the photo? The red arrow shows which way i’ve routed it through.

Thanks all.

Welcome to RB by the way, look forward to hearing more and seeing more pics of your bike.

Thanks! I’ll post up some more pics of the bike, nothing special compared to some of the pristine examples on here though!

We love all manner of retro’s not just the high end shiny ones. A bike we owned back in the day as a poor teenager on a paper round wage can mean just as much as a super Bike from the pages of an MBUK

Welcome, and look forward to seeing some pics :)
