do you mean the little "key" that goes in on the bolt?

If so I am making a couple soon - out of titanium *assuming its not a bitch to work - I could do another for you while I am at it. will be the end of April when they are ready.

If you prefer not to wait I have accurate drawings as a PDF.

I'm assuming that the thing you're talking about is the tensioner that tensions the bearings correctly? Strangely not all cranks came with them. I always use a quick release skewer with two large washers, tension the bearings correctly by closing the QR and then tighten the crank arm bolt -job done! I have seen people use star fangled nuts that have been trimmed to fit, but that's a bit extreme I think!

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Here's a picture from one that's on eBay right now

That looks a little excessive, did they come with those on from bullseye? seems to defeat the weight savings of hollow cranks or are they removable for riding?.

When fitting the cranks I simply put the bike on its drive side push the non-drive crank down and use a drill to tighten the bolt, works for me but the QR systems sounds easier than one handed.

My key simply stops the non drive side falling off should things get loose.

It goes around the bolt like a washer and has a tooth that goes into a little hole in the hollow spindle.

Didn't know there would be demand, me and my big mouth :)

I'm making 2 for GilM first so I'll see how they go. Then I'll do ones to order.

I used to make them from cheap steel brackets but I bought an old titanium stem I'm going to cut up - they need to be really thin so we'll see how it goes.

I will need to charge a bit for my time and postage, the steel ones took about 30 minutes to make but I expect that to get quicker if I do a few.

But anyone with a 7mm drill, a hacksaw and a bench grinder could do it.

Cool, not in any immediate rush as the frame still needs to go away for repainting,as and when you can really mate, thanks
