Build it or Art it?

I think it looks rather fetching on the wall. OK, the wife hissed at me like a cornered stoat when she came in and saw it but she might yet come round to the idea. Should I build it or leave it where it is? If it does get built it will be a bit of a slow burner with me picking up parts when suitable ones come up. Curse this website, I only came on here looking for new brake bosses!

What would you put on a classic US steel frame?

Very nice. What year is it?

Build it. Than ride it and hang it on the wall as well.

1993 we think. Scant says that is the case and he should know. It has an uncut threadless steerer, a one inch headset and no hanger for the rear canti. I had a thread running asking about the componentry available in 1993. Some of the above factors do not seem compatible with the groupsets available. Shimano weren't the first to launch vees or threadless headsets though, maybe the mainstream were lagging behind a bit.

Any Potts gurus, I would value your opinions.

In Mike's ad I read it is from 1991 :?

No idea how Steve Potts planned the routing for the brake cable. We know of many frames that used a seperate bit that connected to the seatbolt, but on this frame it looks like there is no room for that.

Maybe ask Steve Potts himself for additional info? Heard he is a nice guy.

they are canti studs, not for a U brake right?

my 90ish Salsa has one of those hangers elev12k refers to, it works, but it relies on the slot on the seatclamp.

Might also be worth asking on MTBR VRC forum, there are some very knowlegable chaps on there, but if you do make sure you mention youre going to put loads of purple components on it, and a pair of Spins, theyll love that ;)
