brooks saddle ok it is not.......

Can't really comment on one but know of two mates who bragged they got themselves
a brand new brooks saddle each only to curse as they are so god damn hard! I thought these
saddles would be kinda springy being leather but there not, there as hard as a cheap plastic
saddle and because of the 'looks' they should only be fitted on a bike from the 1970's.

edit doh! just seen the link! ignore the above

Still hate the buttons on all saddles by the way.

Can't comment on the performance, but can comment on the extraordinary amount of 'scene tax' on these!

I can almost understand why the Leather saddles cost as much as they do. They are good quality leather and handmade. But a bit of moulded rubber on an alloy frame!

Well, call me Mr Weirdbum but the B17 seems to fit my 'arris like a glove? right out of the box. Did a CTC Trivets 100 miler on a brand new one a couple of years ago with hardly a wriggle.
Can't quite say the same for the Professional but I'm working on it.
Hard to beat the old steel & leather combo. Not sure about the old rubber & cotton.
Have I got the right website?

I've got a Brooks Professional & it's by far the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden, although if you're looking for a lightweight.... Forget it!
BUT... New Brooks saddles will need breaking in for 500 miles or so. Also treat the underside with Brooks proofide. I've never tensioned mine and never felt the need to do so.
everyone to their own I guess.

Not sure about these ones in the article though
