What's the punchline?

Scott Speed?

EDIT: Oops, Just noticed you are Canadian.

Al Pease, Allen Berg, Bill Brack, Pete Broeker, Peter Ryan, Ernie de Vos, John Cannon, George Eaton, John Cordts and Eddie Wietzes. All Canadians who raced in F1 and between them did not score a single championship point.

Good job you had Jaques and Gilles then

I'm with the very first post on this thread. Steve Redgrave did something very, very remarkable.

I have uber respect for his acheivments, but I have trouble putting him right at the top due to the minority nature of his sport. I could be persuaded though.

What about Lennox Lewis?

I love the Don Bradman post above, genius.

Shane Warne? He's an honourary englishman. He makes me wish I was an aussie.

Phil The Power Taylor gets my vote though. He's an arrow chucking monster, and the best there has ever been by a long shot.

cue 'thats not a sport!' comments..

Surprised no one has gone for Dame Helen MacArthur. Some outstanding achievments over the years.

When the gun goes off - proper sportspeople do it on their own, no mechanical assistance, no team tactics, no best car or engine.

Good "work ethic" there and one I've been putting into practice this cyclo-cross season - no spare bike, no pit helper, no van driven by a mate and stuffed full of Park Tools and spare bits, and definitely no sponsorship from bike shops offering financial and mechanical assistance plus flashy carbon wheels with Dugast tubs worth a few hundred quid per pair. Just me plus a bike. And I reckon I did OK under those circumstances....

You have hit the nail squarely on it's head. My hat off to you and your endeavours.

But he used a bike. Is a bike not a 'mechanical device' that you have outlawed with your twisted logic?
